Learn the effective methods of setting up a good, safe and effective camp site!
Camp Craft sessions are designed to show people the effective methods of setting up a good, safe and effective camp site. This can be elaborated on by turning the programme into a survival scenario and introducing the element of providing group shelter, gathering and processing water, keeping warm (fire) and looking for editable plants. A manageable area is to be used for the programme so as not to impact too heavily on the environment. Shelters are to be stripped after the session.
The aim of the camp craft session is to let young people have the hands on approach to being in the wild, encouraging the young people to be independent and fend for themselves. This should be underpinned by the seven principles of the Leave No Trace Syllabus. No computers here!!
